The Harry Potter novels, written by JK Rowling are constantly under discussion among Christians whether Harry Potter is preaching witchcraft and paganism or whether the books have a deeper spiritual meaning than many care to look at. It's easy to flip through books and find witchcraft sources, but the same could be said for gospel sources. Author JK Rowland has stated that her Christian faith has in fact informed her writing of the popular series. Many Christians say that Harry Potter is incomparable with Christ, being far from perfection, while Voldemort seems to strike a different chord regarding his character representing the Devil himself. The books describe the struggle between good and evil and the final victory of good over evil through Harry's courage and the undeniable fact of his love for the human spirit. Good triumphs over evil when little Harry's life is spared by his parents, especially his mother who sacrifices herself for him, protecting him with love, the only thing that can stop evil. At Hogwarts, good and evil are separated into houses, the two being mainly Gryffindor and Slytherin. The Sorting Hat is a hat that decides which house a student will reside in. It seems like the hat already knows which house the students will already be in, with the exception of Harry, so an idea of predestination is introduced. How would the hat know where the student needs to go? In Harry's situation, he showed interest in Gryffindor even though the hat said Slytherin. He was eventually granted Gryffindor, so in a way he opposes the idea of predestination and the sorting hat. In any case, the fact remains that, whatever we think we are destined for in life, for better or worse, we can always make the morally right choice: halfway through the paper, getting to Hogwarts, students must board the Hogwarts Express which starts from platform 9 ¾, the secret platform which is accessed between stations 9 and 10 through a brick wall. It's clear that Hogwartz is purely fiction, full of mythical creatures and fictional spells and spells, however the setting in which it takes place is very real, as most of the film footage was filmed in Britain. If it's not clear the gospel is evident in Harry Potter, by the seventh book it should be evident. There is a scene in the book (which was left out of the film) where Harry reads on Dumbledore's mother's tombstone "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." This inscription comes directly from Matthew 6:21. Another direct source from the Bible is found on Harry's mother's tombstone which states "And the last enemy that shall be destroyed shall be death", 1 Corinthians 15:26.
