Does Obama really want to take our weapons? Our country has always believed in the right of citizens to own a gun. It is a principle so important to our country that it is listed as the second of twenty-seven constitutional amendments. Gun control is a highly controversial topic that carries many true and false claims. Many people believe that our Second Amendment rights are being attacked and that the government wants to take away our guns. I am convinced that Obama does not want to take our guns, but future administrations could use the laws enacted today to do just that in the future. As more and more gun-related tragedies occur in our country, the question has become "How can we reduce gun violence in our country?", as opposed to "How can we take guns away from people?", but the laws that Obama are trying to pave the way for the future disarmament of Americans? In this article, I hope to help the reader understand that Obama does not want to take our guns, but the actions we are taking now may not be the best decisions for the present or the future. Most of the time gun control is discussed, you will hear points like "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." Anti-gun control lobbyists argue that Obama blames mass shootings, murders and suicides on guns. Is Obama placing the blame in the wrong place? Those who oppose gun control argue that it is the mentally ill and insane who kill people, and ask why Obama is imposing gun restrictions when it is not the guns' fault? Ultimately, it's people who kill people, and the Obama administration agrees.
