Have you ever wondered why it's so easy for you to learn things when the material is accompanied by pictures versus when you try to learn material with just letters and more letters that don't make any sense? . For decades people have struggled to try to understand why for some students learning is so obvious and clear, while many others appear not to receive or retain any information taught for long periods of time. According to Reiner, C and Willingham, D (2010), “the claim at the heart of learning styles theory is that different students have different learning modes and their learning could be improved by matching their teaching with that preferred learning mode . ” (p. 1) But to date there is no hard data to prove that such a myth exists, and many believe that this myth is wrong, and basing the way you learn on this could potentially harm the student by decreasing the amount of information that he himself receives. The more limited your education, the more power highly educated people will have over you, and the more power people will have over you, the more susceptible you will become to will. I am pursuing a degree to improve myself; to gain the knowledge I need to be able to create the opportunities that will make me more competitive in life and that will bring me closer to the goals I have set for myself throughout my life. When we were kids we all had big dreams and as we grow up most of these dreams fade away, keeping them big is the motivation that drives me to work hard every day. University is not easy and you need a lot of motivation to succeed, but it is the gateway to great goals and there is no other way out. Knowing what your learning style is and how to use it to... ...middle of paper ......if you can't learn any other way, that means this is the way the learning becomes easier for you, and also a way to absorb and retain information for long periods of time. There are many tips that will help the student to significantly improve the way he learns, it is up to him to decide whether or not to accept and put into practice the advice regarding his learning style.
