He is a well-known journalist with a passion for music. Ledesma's passion for music is something great for him who idolizes Mahler known for being a musical composer who Ledesma also looks up to. Ledesma is so obsessed with the composer Mahler that he tells everyone about him, not only does he tell everyone that he also wants everyone to love Mahler and see Mahler for who he is. One day he comes across Mahler telling his colleague Verani, they begin to talk but Verani contradicts Ledesma at one point for what he says. Ledesma gets angry and calls Verani an idiot; for Ledesma he is the only one who is right about everything. While reading the novel we see how Ledesma's life had gone, he was married to his wife who was battling cancer they had a daughter who Ledesma took care of for a while since his wife left him and left Ledesma with their daughter, their daughter only stayed for a couple of days the daughter decided to stay with her maternal grandparents instead. Ledesma gave up on the feeling of doing journalism the moment he told Verani the story of the fight between Dempsey and Firpo, he wasn't interested in writing about that fight or anything else. His days as a journalist were over, he was more unhappy about his life than anyone I had ever read
