Topic > Political Compromise in America - 871

In America's past we have fought against polarization in government even before it was officially born. We note hours and hours of deliberations that nearly tore newborn America apart before it even began on the single issue of representation. While we are very grateful today for what the framers produced, wouldn't it have been much more efficient if the framers had simply compromised from the beginning? If we Americans emphasized compromise and bipartisanship in our political voting agenda, we would end up with a much more productive and efficient government. We don't need to get caught up in the Greek arête and philosophize about government to discuss its role. . It's quite simple: those who want government-funded programs today are for our current government, while those who don't are against it. In America today there is the constant problem of no one willing to compromise. We saw this outlined in the movie “A More Perfect Union.” Even today there is so much evidence of this problem of polarization and lack of compromise. “We the people” want safe water, we want safe food, we want safe medications, and the list goes on and on without excessive spending. Lack of corporate responsibility, someone other than the cat has to guard the bird cage. And those experiencing hardship are strongly in favor of some sort of government assistance. I bet those along the south coast were supporters of a smaller government, before the BP oil spill. It's human nature: we want it both ways. Cut their programs, not mine. I will vote for my representatives as long as they arrive with the promise of greenery at home. By thinking of our country as a society made up of stupid people...middle of paper..."religious right", and dividing the crowd "in the middle", I realized that America is truly a "house divided “ .” It is divided fairly evenly in the middle economic belt into two competing and monolithic voting blocs. As we think at the time to the “Great Compromise” as a defeat or to a success. When in reality the perfection came from the meeting and compromise between the parties. From this compromise we have gained a greater piece of ingenuity than we could ever have conceived on our own if we did not focus our interests on the principles that unite us Americans, it will likely be very difficult to move America forward toward individual opportunity, success, prosperity, security, freedom, and the American Dream..
