There are different points of view from which you can take a photo. Eye level is by far the most common viewpoint, especially for family photos. As the name describes, eye-level photos are taken from eye level. If you just want a simple photo of your family in front of a landmark, then this is the best viewpoint to use. Of course, if you want to take more unique photos, you might consider using a bird's eye view or a worm's eye view (this means you take the photo from below the subject, I doubt that many people will be able to) to use this POV on a family vacation, but I felt I had to mention it anyway). Consider all the angles you can shoot from. Maybe your photo will look better if you stand on top of a rock? Maybe it will look better if you move to the right. Think carefully before choosing yours
