Gone Fishing Every year my family and I would go to Florida for vacation, it's the best thing that the whole family makes the effort to go and spend time with everyone. My uncle had an apartment in Indian Rocks and that's where we all stayed, it didn't matter if some of us had to sleep on the floor. We always make sure to go to the best places in the area, like Crabby Bills, which is a great seafood restaurant. John's Past, which is a shopping center with all these little shops with anything you might need for the beach. The best thing about this trip wasn't the food or the shopping, but my favorite was the first time I went fishing early in the morning with all the guys. When I was in Florida, the first few fishing trips were the best. It didn't matter what else we did, this was what I was looking forward to the entire trip. Get up at 4 in the morning, have breakfast at the Light House Café and then meet at the dock to go out on the boat. When I got to the dock I would have to get all the gear together and load the coolers with ice and food. When I finished all this it was 6 o'clock. I was already exhausted, but we still had about 2 miles to travel, with water splashing in my face as the boat hit the waves and the big orange sun rising. I couldn't wait to put the line in the water and catch my first fish of the trip. Once we arrived at our destination (which takes about an hour and a half), the captain had us hooked. I put small pieces of shrimp on the hook and let them fall to the side hoping to catch bait fish. After catching these bait fish for a while, the captain pulled up the anchor and we moved to a different spot. Now I'm excited. This... middle of paper... in there. I grabbed the second fishing rod and this fish hit the rod harder than anything I had ever felt. I started reeling and it took me about twenty minutes to catch this fish and when I finally did I was amazed at what I had caught. A 3 foot barracuda, at first I thought Spanish mackerel put up a fight, but it didn't compare to anything this barracuda did. I ended up catching 2 more barracudas and that was it. After the long hour and a half ride back to the dock, the captain took what we had caught and skinned it so we could grill it. As he skinned it I could hear the seagulls floating in the water right under the table just waiting for some little scraps to fall in so they could get a quick and easy meal. Deep sea fishing has to be one of those things I will never forget and hope to do again in the future or even buy my own boat and do it myself.
