My parents saw me having fun playing with it and decided to give it as a gift. When I was in first grade, I won first place in a poetry recitation competition at my school and received a set of building blocks as a prize. That was probably the first time I had my own set of building blocks. My parents noticed that I enjoyed playing with it and decided to give me other similar sets. This was how my arsenal of building blocks expanded and so did my interest in this field. Academically, I have always been consistent. I passed my undergraduate course, BE in Civil Engineering from Assam Engineering College with 78.52% cum laude. Before that, I had passed my 12th grade exam, AISSCE (All India Senior School Certificate Examination), with 86.6% and my 10th grade exam, AISSE (All India Secondary School Examination), with 82.8%! It was during my university studies that I was introduced to the various fields of civil engineering. I found the "Theory of Structures" and "Design of Structures" courses particularly interesting, after which I built a solid foundation. I even opted for Earthquake Engineering as an optional subject in my final year. But clearly a university course cannot provide in-depth knowledge; everything I have covered in these topics constitutes only a small part of the vast areas and opportunities of structural engineering. Since I believe that my future lies in the field of structural engineering, I need to increase my knowledge and practical skills so that I can make a career in the research field. This course of action also involves working on a thesis under the guidance of an expert who will improve my research experience. Though my experience was not extensive, I learned all I could in... half of article... ...d Donation camps organized by Assam State AIDS Control Society on the campus of Assam Engineering College. Therefore, I firmly believe that a specialization will provide me with the necessary tools to be aware of the latest developments in that field which will help me make meaningful contributions. North Carolina State University's MS in Civil Engineering program is what I need to evolve with my true potential and make me more technically sound in the direction I envision. The innovative work taking place in the Constructed Facilities Laboratory (CFL) is exactly the kind of work that interests me. I am aware of the difficulties I may encounter and am confident that I will be academically successful in this course of study and, at the same time, contribute to ongoing research projects. I look forward to being an active part of your prestigious institution. and me more of these sets
