This same idea appears in the story of Fredrick Douglas. When Fredrick Douglas began to understand what he read around him, his mind began to create its own opinions and feelings.Also the same idea emerges in Richard Rodriquez's story as he begins to truly understand the underlying theme in all the books he has read anything, they both began to discover what it was their purpose in life and to understand the person they were. The last idea that Plato connects to these two writers concerns their own life perspective Instead of getting an education, he has to work hard for it, so he grows to value education much more than those who didn't have to work for it. He also begins to feel that knowing how to read and write is more of a curse to him than to anyone else
