First, I would recommend eliminating some layers of management and redefining what each position needs to do (an idea the plant manager already had in terms of rewriting descriptions of the works). Based on the table provided in the textbook on page 158, I believe that eliminating the Production Superintendent and Supervisor positions would be beneficial. This would simplify the graph by two levels. The current organizational chart reported in the text had Production Superintendents supervising three people each, for a total of six. I don't think six people are too many for the production manager to handle alone, hence the span of control, as discussed in chapter four,
