Different writers use different writing styles. It all depends on their style and the tone of the message they want to share. Some writers are more formal, others more free and fun. Images in writings can also be used in many different and varied ways. Images liven up reading and add interest. In the examples of the four poems provided, imagery has been used in different ways: in There Is No Word for Goodbye he uses the sense of touch, in Dailey he uses sight, Hope uses sound, and The Day of the Storm uses movement/action. To begin, the use of imagery is used in There Is No Word for Goodbye written by Mary Tall Mountain, through the sense of touch. In a more correct term, this would be called a tactile image, which concerns a tactile structure or sensation. In this poem, this sense of touch would not be the first reference you would think of, but when you read a particular passage, you get the sensation of touch. In There Is No Word for Goodbye, lines 9-12 we read: "A shadow of feeling rippled the wind-tanned skin, ah, nothing, he said, watching the river flash." Yes...
