Field of Interest: Financial Analysis I am interested in investing and that means I am interested in almost all "investment vehicles"; from stocks and bonds to futures and options. However, I am at a stage in my life where I don't have a high income. So I shifted my interest mainly towards options. For the simple reason, options on 100 shares will cost much less than actually buying 100 shares. This reason and my situation today have "forced" me to become more interested in options. But obviously options are highly complex and highly leveraged and require more than just basic stock market knowledge. I read many books on these topics, trading, value investing, technical and fundamental analysis, and I realized that I will have to have all these things in a "small pocket" if I want to be successful in this field. That's why I started a little earlier. But I wouldn't talk about an independent trader, because it wouldn't be realistic for this role. So, if I expect to work in a company where I would implement this interest that I talked about above, then it would be the position of financial analyst. In the next text I will focus on financial analysis and companies that need financial analysts (also called security and investment analysts), such as banks, insurance companies, mutual and pension funds, and securities firms. However, I tried to be realistic, so I didn't look much into the future. I focused on today and possible internships in this field. It's hard to say how promising this is, because the demand for financial analysts rises and falls with the ever-changing stock market. However, as large companies consolidate, some financial analyst positions may be eliminated. According to the latest expectations from US government economists, jobs for financial analysts will grow as fast as the average for all careers through 2014. More financial analysts will be needed to help companies choose among the growing number of investment options . However, I think it is clear that as markets and companies exist, there will always be a need for financial analysts; the people who will analyze the company and present its investment potential. For example, an analyst at an investment bank might evaluate the relative attractiveness of a stock for the firm's brokers to recommend to clients. It is obvious that the trend will remain at this level, or go even higher.
