Can a person be beautiful from their inner personality? As many people ask you, would you rather be with a person who is not attractive, but who cares about you and will love you and stay faithful to you, or would you rather be with a nice person and see them be unfaithful and not care about you? This is Geoffry Chaucer's idea in his poem The Wife of Bath's Tale, when a knight ends up marrying an unattractive old woman. The knight's life is at stake after he commits a crime and he will be beheaded by the king and queen after a year and a day if he does not answer the following question: What is it that women desire most? Geoffry Chaucer tells an excellent plot of a knight on his life's journey, only to be rewarded with two things, one he wanted, the other he didn't expect. The old woman gave the knight the correct answer to the question and saved his life, now in exchange she asks the knight to be his wife.
