It is important that leaders can control and influence their subordinates or employees. To achieve this, leaders must be knowledgeable, have good accreditation and an excellent reputation. This helps leaders to be respected by their employees. Since the criminal justice system operates on a chain of command, it is essential to possess all of these qualities. Intellectual qualities allow leaders to gain the respect of their subordinates, yet reduce the possibility of conflict between the leader and his subordinate staff members. Therefore, officers must be included in leadership training to possess such qualities. They include knowledge of criminal justice, should be diverse with continuous learning ability, be computer literate and knowledgeable about technology, fluent communicator, both verbally and in writing and lastly, the leader should be physically fit to uphold rigorous justice
