Of all the theories I have learned, this is the one that best fits my views. Vygotsky's theory attributes the role of mentor to the teacher. For me, teaching is tutoring, and tutoring helps. The idea of scaffolding or helping a child achieve and identifying goals that are the ideal way to help a child achieve true learning. The reason I think Vygotsky's sociocultural theory works better in childcare development is that children work best in small groups; there are many opportunities to incorporate individual work as well. Individual work can also be used as assessments. A child who works alone will show the teacher what he really knows and how much his development has improved. It exposes students to different ways of thinking and higher standards, which in turn leads to greater achievement. Finally, and most importantly, this theory will produce well-rounded, confident individuals who will grow to achieve high production
