Philosophy not only examines nature and life, but also humanity as an individual and humanity as a society. These insights intrigue not only writers, but also audiences, because philosophy arises from pure wonder, curiosity, and the desire to know and understand, which is what people look for in literature. The philosophers who have marked philosophy as it is are Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. These three great philosophers had their own individual judgment, but they all had a common goal, to expand their knowledge and opinions through the use of literature. As philosophy grew in society and spread across the world, people developed logical reasoning, which became important and influential in nations such as Greece and India. Philosophers such as John Locke and Voltaire were the two leading figures of the Enlightenment to provide philosophical literature. Both ancient philosophers and Enlightenment philosophers provided readers with a subjective view, using issues such as logic and ethics as examples, but with many other aspects of philosophy also presented by these men of thought.
