Topic > Buddhism: The Positive Influence of Buddhism in the World

Suffering is a part of life. Life includes death, illness, misfortune, embarrassment and many disappointments. But if people focus on the happiness that life brings, these sorrows will not consume their lives. This is similar to the issue of euthanasia. Life is suffering. Life is about letting your religious figure take over and do what it wants to do with your life. I guess Buddhists are pro-life as they understand that life brings your problems but you have to face the consequences and be happy. Taking the life of a human being is considered death without the opportunity to follow Buddha and his teachings. This teaching is very current in our society. Especially with illnesses and diseases, we notice that people suffer. I know that in Catholicism we believe that suffering is your way into Heaven. Many of the people who have cancer and are dying usually spend a shorter time in purgatory and enter Heaven more quickly because they suffered on Earth. Suffering is a positive aspect of our society because it shows us that we must suffer if we want to follow our religious leader. He is similar to the apostles of Jesus Christ. They suffered but later found happiness as they found their savior. This is just like Buddhists admiring Buddha. As I said before, they don't worship Buddha but they look up to him as a role model because he put his life on hold so he could find happiness.
