In the poems “Heaven” by Kathy Songs and “Postcard from Kashmir” by Agha Shahid Ali shares the theme of feeling disconnected from “home”, the authors use a similar theme but deal with the different experience and poetry. In the poem “Paradise” the author shares her feeling of disconnection from her homeland where she has never been visited. It portrays its version of China with a familiar setting. Although she has never been to China, she wants to go back even after two generations have passed. He sees China as a fantasy land and even calls it paradise. In the sentence “I sat in this place and asked myself why here? Why in this short life do they call this city, this stream a river? shows how much she resents her life here and how much she can't wait to go back, even though she seems to know that will probably never happen
