In my opinion the purpose of the legal system involves many things. The legal system offers everyone a fair and equitable path in the eyes of the law, without prejudice. You are innocent until proven guilty and tried by a jury of your peers. The legal system helps derive, enact, and enforce laws to protect society and ensure domestic tranquility. Victims can get the justice they deserve when someone disrupts their daily lives and causes physical, mental and/or emotional pain. The Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School will teach me things I never knew and help me become the best lawyer I can be. For starters, without the legal system and laws, criminals could get away with whatever they wanted and there would be no absolute chaos. Without the legal system many people would be harmed and there would be no formal control or authoritarian order. For example, if you saw a bicycle and wanted it, you could steal it and no one would care. Furthermore, if you don't like someone, you could hurt them or, worse, kill them. Since there would be no laws against it, it would have no relevance to anyone and you would escape without worry or challenge. Many would have been robbed, injured and even killed. We have laws in place to protect us. We need laws to support social cohesion. In this way we can live together with cities, communities and other societies. If you break the law, you are harming another person. Whether it is privacy, property, physical or mental abuse or whatever it may be, it is a violation of the law. When you hurt someone, you are taking away their right to pursue happiness and other rights and freedoms that they are entitled to. Consequently, when we break laws, we must be punished, fairly, by the law we have... middle of paper... until proven otherwise, which makes it fair. The legal system helps to enact, enact and enforce laws to protect society and ensure internal peace. Someone who is a victim of a crime of assault in any way, mental, physical or emotional, can get the justice they deserve for the pain they have felt. I will learn many things and learn how to become the best lawyer I can be if I can attend the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School.
