Without the prophecy, being king would be a distant reality for him, but after hearing it, he realizes that becoming king is in his future (Shakespeare). Although when is unknown, he decides the moment himself, allowing him to win the title much more quickly (Shakespeare). If prophecy was absent in this story, Macbeth would have had no promise regarding his future and would not have been convinced that his actions would lead to great reward (Shakespeare). However, with the prophecy in play, it allows him to put his ambitions into action with the swift action of killing the king (Shakespeare). Although, along with ambition comes the doubt of carrying out the plan and creating a future with a certain hellish end result (Shakespeare). Lady Macbeth's support and faith in his abilities strengthens his resolve and convinces him that his actions are a necessary factor in becoming king (Shakespeare). If the support had ceased to exist, Macbeth would have lost all his determination because in the midst of the murder he hesitates (Shakespeare). It is Lady Macbeth's words that push him to finish it (Shakespeare).
