Albert Bandura developed social learning theory in 1977 based on the premise that humans understand their environment through actions and behavioral consequences. Social learning allows growth as an observation of patterns of thought and behavior and how they are represented in the reality we create. Our thoughts create our emotions, which translate into our behaviors. Behaviors will be positively or negatively reinforced by external actions. This reinforcement perpetuates the validity of the thought and therefore continues the cycle. Unlike cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic theory evaluates behaviors through an in-depth evaluation of why a person would behave a certain way based on conscious and unconscious thoughts. Sigmund Freud established the psychodynamic theory between 1890 and 1910. It is a premise that concludes that all our behaviors arise from an unconscious thought process developed in early childhood. His theory states that all thoughts are created internally and have a fundamental root in childhood
