This reading reminded me how Vygotsky's theory is mainly based on the interactions and influences that help children learn. I really believe this theory is very accurate, because students can learn from each other. If a teacher has difficulty explaining a complex topic to a student, another student can explain it in a more relatable way. Additionally, I was fascinated when I read about what cultural tools were and how they related to Vygotsky's beliefs. Learning what cultural tools were helped me broaden my understanding of how crucial cultural tools are to the student learning process. Additionally, the chapter did a great job of elaborating how these tools can help advance and grow in understanding students' thinking process. Another aspect of this reading that interested me was the in-depth analysis of private speech and the Zone of Proximal Development. Each of the definitions displayed helps me advance my thinking about what it was and how it is used in regards to student education. The description of what private speech is and how it is basically the internal narrative of their thought process helped me understand how this aspect can help students in learning.
