To consolidate this module, I observed 5 girls in a private ballet studio, during a pre-primary ballet lesson, and 6 girls playing together in a sandpit during their period of free play in a private school Jewish kindergarten. The girls in the ballet class were between the ages of five and six, while the school girls were between the ages of four and five. During the ballet class, the ballet teacher was present. He needed to control the classroom, manage behavior and ensure that all children did what they were told. The teacher was there to do most of the exercises with them, as they are still young and are not able to remember the whole program by themselves. Although the teacher did most of the exercises with the students, it was important for her to pay attention to each individual child and provide them with feedback when necessary. The ballet studio is a large room, with a stage in front. There is plenty of space for children to move freely, however they tend to clump together because they lack special awareness. In other dance studios I have visited, there are many mirrors, which were missing in the studio where I carried out my observation. I found this to be a disadvantage, because children benefit from watching themselves. The girls observed at school were observed during free play, and therefore the teacher present avoided any involvement with them. The sandbox is located in the center of the playground and is a popular choice for children. They come with numerous buckets, spades, trowels, funnels and many other sandbox toys. They are able to collect water from the bath, which these girls used in the cake dough to prepare it... middle of paper... more privileged homes, as they may not have access to computers and electronic devices game, the which would make them more physically active. This assignment was useful in helping me gain an understanding and understanding of a child's needs, and was a valuable way of consolidating this module.
