My experience as a teaching assistant has helped me put personalism policies into practice. Part of my job is to assist the student both in class and outside of class. I like to make myself available to other students when they need it. Over the years, I have worked with students on an individual level during lunch, during prep periods, or after school. I definitely feel like I'm capable of taking these politics of personalism to the basic level. Just recently I was given the opportunity to work with fifth graders at the learning center on campus. Working with upper elementary students is very different than high school students. The most rewarding feedback I received from my supervisor was that I had established a good relationship with my students and he could see it through his observations. He said the students responded well to me in class and enjoyed being with me. Since these students were much younger, my interaction with them was very different. For example, in class it was as simple as kneeling next to the desk to get to their eye level when they had a question for me. Every week when they arrived I loved hearing all their funny stories and asking them about their week or how they were doing
