The name of the testThe Children's Appreception Test (CAT), according to Albert I. Rabin (1995) “was first published in 1949, and the revised manual was the eighth revised edition." The test was revised in 1991. The children's apperception test is an extension of the TAT, which is for adults, and uses images of humans rather than animals. There is a CAT-H that uses human images, created after a controversy over whether animal or human images were better. A CAT-S supplement is also available. Purpose of the test The Children's Apperception Test (CAT) is a projective personality test used on children aged between 3 and 10 years old. Children will decipher a series of 10 images made up of animals, each in different situations. The aim of this test is to reveal the child's thoughts and feelings towards conflicts and relationships on a conscious and unconscious level. based on the story he made up with each image (Hatt, 1980). This test was originally designed to understand psychosexual conflicts at different stages of child development. Today CAT is mainly used in clinical evaluation. Knoff (1992), states the following: The 10 cards supposedly address the following issues: eating problems, oral problems, sibling rivalry, attitudes toward parents, relationships with parents as (sexual) couples, jealousy toward same-sex parental figures , fantasies about aggression, acceptance by the adult world, fear or loneliness at night, behavior in the bathroom and parents' response to it. (p. 1) The Manual The manual for the CAT was revised in 1980. According to Shaffer, the manual “contains a brief history of the test; an account of its "nature and purpose"; indications for the administration; description and interpretation in advance... half of the paper... when trying to evaluate a child, but rather it could be useful in the classroom. Since there are no restrictions on who can administer the test, I think it would be helpful for a teacher at the beginning of the year to understand the personalities of each of his or her children.
