“The practice of physical education and sport is a fundamental right for everyone.” (UNESCO) Gender equality in sports continues to be lacking even after Title IX. People seem to only care about men when it comes to sports. Women have achieved as much or more in sports, but men still seem to get all the attention. Women should receive equal treatment in sports, because the attention boosts women's self-esteem, they receive no media attention or scholarships, and ultimately, it violates Title IX. Surprisingly, when women are active in sports they seem to have more self-confidence and self-awareness. When women are treated equally, they know that they are just as important as men, which has a drastic boost in their self-esteem. When women play sports, the rate of loneliness and depression is not as fast as when women do not play sports (“Women”). Self-esteem affects the quality of life. Any solution that allows for the growth of self-esteem in women's lives should be implemented. There is no need to not help a situation if you know a way to help. For women to have more power than a man is very rare. Women's access to leadership appears to be lower than that of men (“Women”). When someone is more active in sports and has goals in life, the goals seem to help in life situations. When you play sports you need to learn to have patience, and this always helps in life. After the 1919 World Cup, women were motivated to do their best in sports and skills. The media also had a very inspirational view of women (Coakley). The Afghan Women's Network (AWN) is a network that seeks to help and empower Afghan women. This program seeks to increase the self-esteem of women in sport (“Women”). If... half the paper... consolidated. Gender equality is still missing today, with self-esteem, no media or scholarships, and even violations of Title IX. So I think society should become more evolved and interested in the fact that women don't have equal rights in sports, even after getting Title IX. Changing discrimination and inequality in sport will help the future generation. Works Cited Coakley, Jay. “Sports in Society” University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. 2004, print.Currie, Stephen.
