Pearl's birth gave Hester the strength to become someone in society for both of them. Pearl's search for truth and honesty leads the reader to the truth of who her father was. At the end of the novel, when Pearl mourns her dying father, the author Dimmesdale, she is allowed to become a person with a different meaning in her own life. Pearl is no longer the product of sin, but is a young woman with a bright future ahead of her. Pearl was an extraordinary character due to her talented perceptive skills, the effect she had on her mother, and the sincere character she was throughout her life.
