A computerized axial tomography scan is a medical device used to take images of different regions of the human body and other animals with internal health problems. A CT scan uses the idea of conventional X-ray imaging to a higher standard. Instead of simply taking photos of the different body parts of interest, the CT scan takes multiple photos of the body from many different angles and creates a three-dimensional structure of the body. These three-dimensional structures show the complete components of the body starting from bones, tissues, muscles and even vessels at the organ level. This can help doctors examine each slide of skin at a time so they can pinpoint a specific problem in specific regions and find the right solutions to the various problems they encounter. CAT scans produce X-rays which are a powerful form of electromagnetic energy. This has photons that are basically the same thing as visible light photons but with much more energy. This high energy helps it pass directly through the soft tissues of the human body. The patient lies on a flat surface of the machine and is slowly moved through a movable ring mounted around the edges of the opening. This ring also supports a series of X-ray tubes and is driven by a motor so that the X-ray tube and X-ray detectors rotate around the body. Each round scans a narrow piece of the part of interest, and the machine then records X-ray slices across the body in a spiral motion. The computer system varies the intensity of the collected from all slides from different...... middle of paper......ut CT scan performed successfully, there are specific requirements that must be present. A CT scan is generally performed by a radiologist who has extensive training in how to use and read the results of many different types of radiology systems. They are trained to read test results accurately and work primarily together with other doctors such as anesthesiologists and surgeons to provide the best cost savings and efficient care for their patients. Before a CT scan, you may be asked to remove any clothing to be scanned. If the area has been treated intravenously, you may need to drink some contrast fluids to increase the clarity and visibility of the area of interest. Of course, a CT machine would be needed. This is a specialized donut-shaped machine; as a person passes through, numerous photos are automatically taken of the place of interest from different angles.
