The word marijuana also known as cannabis, weed, grass and green stuff has been universally criticized since the turn of the century. According to (Fitzgerald, KT, Bronstein, AC, & Newquist, KL 2013) “the term “marijuana” typically refers to tobacco-like preparations of the leaves and flowers” (Fitzgerald et al., (2013). (McGuinness, Teena M, PhD,PMH-NP, BC (2009) stated that “cannabis cigarettes are also called plugs, nails and smoking pipes are also known as bongs and bowls” (McGuinness et al., 2009). Marijuana has positive effects on both society and the well-being of individuals and should be legalized. The government can monitor and tax marijuana thus helping the economy. Secondly, marijuana could be used as a medical therapy in prisons and prisons. the use of marijuana can be proven to be highly addictive among individuals in our society Marijuana is more harmful than cigarettes and marijuana is known as the drug (Gate Way) to the harder drugs the Opium Act and Canada followed a strict ban against all illicit drugs. With this in mind (Hart, Ksir, Hebb, Gilbert,Black.(2012) cannabis is the most widely consumed illicit drug in the world; the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime estimates that between 155 and 250 million people use illicit substances at least once in 2008 (Hart et.al, 2012) With this amount of population using drugs, imagine how much profit the government could make rather than the drug cartels that profit from it 'America have been through a period of o..... half of the document ...... first it will protect young people from being prosecuted/charged. In conclusion, marijuana has positive effects on both society and the well-being of individuals and the government should be legalized to legalize marijuana because firstly the government can monitor and tax marijuana thus helping the economy Secondly marijuana can be used as a medical therapy and thirdly there would be fewer young people and adults in the prisons and prisons would be able to manage all aspects of marijuana such as price, import and export and decreasing any drug cartels/markets. Furthermore, young people would not be prosecuted for cannabis possession and fear an indeterminate future. Finally, the positives incidentally outweigh the negatives on this troubling topic and thus the monumental decision to legalize marijuana..
