According to Reuters, approximately 47 million people receive food stamps. This equates to 1 in 8 Americans (Abbott). Food stamps are used to support those who have difficulty finding work and supporting their families. There are people who take it for granted and abuse the system. Many people apply for assistance every year, but are rejected because their case is not sufficient or there is simply not enough space to accommodate them. According to an article, it is stated that since Food Stamps are running out of funds and people are turning to food banks for support (Food assistance becomes the “new normal”. Food banks are designed for extreme measures such as disasters natural conditions, extreme weather, and homelessness. As food is in short supply, our national government should create and pass a new food stamp reform bill because some individuals who receive their assigned benefits are committing fraud every day. assistance because abusers are finding new, creative ways to game the system. The Food Stamp Act of 1964 has been very influential in the United States of America. It does not discriminate against a family because of political beliefs, nationality, religion, etc . and race Its goal is to reduce hunger in low-income families. Food Stamps are heavily monitored by the federal government, but potential recipients must contact local social services to apply. Food stamps are only awarded once a month or in increments of two. It is usually given on the 1st and 15th. How much a person receives depends on the size of the household. There are limits to what a person can purchase.
