Leadership is the act of having self-awareness, understanding others, having vision, energy, edge, energizing others, executing plans and above all having integrity and intelligence ( J. Welch). Management follows established procedures and processes to be efficient and productive. As Peter Drucker once said “management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things. "(Management Paradise) Leadership as an act of self-awareness involves examining oneself to identify one's weaknesses and strengths. People who take responsibility for what they don't know benefit organizations over people who pretend to know everything (White n.d.) Discovering our weaknesses and strengths helps us manage our weaknesses and develop our strengths/talents. leader should be able to identify his strengths by looking the things he does and feeling that his goal has been achieved, the things he does and feeling satisfied with the results and the things he does and receiving praise. He can also identify his weaknesses by observing the things he does and feeling dissatisfied and things that he finds challenging when addressing. We should also be aware that when strengths are overemphasized, they become weaknesses. Having done this, he has laid the foundation for doing the right thing. On the other hand, in management it is not necessary to identify one's strengths and weaknesses because its main objective is to effectively carry out established procedures, that is, to do things well to improve operational performance. His personal identity does not concern him because; it will never affect his work. Furthermore, leadership as an act of self-awareness also involves the identification of fundamental and ethical values. A good leader should live an exemplary life to motivate his followers...... middle of paper ...... to have plans and visions to transform the world should try as much as possible to be good leaders through self -awareness awareness, being multiculturalist, understanding Jack Welch Everyday leadership and being determined and courageous like Lee Kuan Yew rather than following established procedures.
