Jimmy Carter1977-1981The United States has had several different presidents, in office for 8 years because they were re-elected by us citizens. The story of James Earl Carter Jr. or better known as President Jimmy Carter, like every other president the United States has had, is different. After graduating from high school, Jimmy Carter attended Georgia Southwestern College and also attended the Institute of Technology in later years. Since joining the naval forces, Jimmy Carter became a submariner and while doing so was able to serve in the Atlantic and Pacific, which which allowed him to increase his rank to lieutenant. As the years passed, Jimmy Carter married Rosalynn Smith in his hometown of Plains in 1946, the same year he graduated from the United States Naval Academy. As it was said “for his decades of tireless commitment to finding peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to promote democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development "I firmly believe that this award has been well awarded to the right person.
