Socioeconomic status is an integral part of social work research, but is often considered separate and apart from race (Adelman, 2004). Research has suggested that financial and mortgage hardship is not limited to a particular race or ethnic group. Education Formal and informal education levels could be a determining factor in how many families manage their finances and experience economic hardship. Research has suggested that understanding finances plays a role in the accumulation of resources, shapes individuals' attitudes, behaviors, and decisions that influence their financial and social well-being (Grinstein, Spader, Clinton, & Freeze, 2012). A sample of 2,100 (n=2,100) was recruited to participate in the study.
