Lying under oath is considered perjury (England). When you are giving testimony before taking the stand, you must swear. You have to say, “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.” (England). In some cases the prosecution will call witnesses who they know will automatically commit perjury to help their case. Even if the defendant is found guilty and then exonerated, the truth will come out and someone will be held accountable. As an investigator, it is your job to enforce the law and breaking it too much is simply wrong to see a person who has committed a crime be punished. Everyone has ethics, so it is up to the investigator to do the right thing and let the courts and jury make the final decision. If the prosecution knew there were ethical problems in the case, it would violate the defendant's constitutional rights; particularly their Sixth Amendment which provides the right to a fair and speedy trial ("The Amendments", ). This becomes violated for the accused once the investigation is unethical
