STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I want to sharpen my research acumen by pursuing a master's degree in supply chain management at ___________ University. My passion for this research comes from two sources: intellectual curiosity and my experience. My first interest in supply chain management came from my own experience. Ever since I was young, I wanted to understand not only the "how" of mechanical engineering problems, but also why machines worked at a fundamental level. In particular, I was interested in learning the application of experimental techniques and the principles that govern Physics to solve problems. Therefore, I found pursuing the BE in Mechanical Engineering almost a necessity, given the need to satiate my curiosity to gain deeper knowledge of that area. My second interest in Supply Chain Management arose from my assessment that it is a "rational" specialty. I realized that its simplistic applications could find solutions to humanity's essential needs. I realized that mechanical engineering has an enormous scope, from automobiles and manufacturing to medical equipment and nanotechnology. I studied an extremely challenging curriculum focusing diligently on basic mechanical engineering and operations research which provided me with a holistic overview of the engineering field. Hence my passion for the scope and extension of science with mechanical engineering as cynosure grew. Fortunately, during my university studies, I had the opportunity to identify the optimal path of a process through my project "Design and Development of PCB Double Head Drilling Machine". Furthermore, I learned about a new topic called Six Sigma which helped me weave new optimization techniques into my project to make the process effective. My experience and erudition are my strength which I wish to encourage and use to my advantage. , there is a combination of inventory, logistics and management concepts, in which I seek expertise.
