There have been people who have been against firearms for as long as they have existed. Although guns are necessary and part of the amendment, some people think they should be banned. Guns are important because they provide immediate protection to people before the police can discover a crime. They are also important for sport because there is even an Olympic sport that revolves around firearms. Hunting is also becoming more popular than any other sport. Firearms also play a huge role in our economy and if they were to be banned our economy would be severely damaged. Years ago gun sales were up and down, but now they are rising more than ever. The reason is that the threat of firearms being banned or heavily controlled has increased. Firearms are very important to the lives and safety of the American people. Many people use firearms to protect themselves and their families. Many people obtain a concealed carry license and this allows a person to carry a firearm in a concealed area in public. It is known that total clandestine carry permits in the United States increased by approximately 29% from an estimated 6.9 million in 2010 to an estimated 9 million in 2012 (nssfnews). It is also said that there have been more crimes stopped by civilians with a concealed carry license than by a police officer. So, if we took away guns, how could citizens protect themselves and others? This is what those against guns should ask themselves. People think that if they made the concealed carry license illegal the crime rate would decrease but in reality it would increase significantly because if they made that license illegal there would be no way for any law to…half of paper…. ..the world since almost everyone owns firearms. Firearms are vital to the lives, safety and liberty of American citizens. Works Cited Cox, Chris W. NRA-ILA: NRA. January 31, 2014. Document. February 16, 2014. Gross, Daniel.
