Rough Draft of Absent Fathers For various reasons, many children in the United States live without their father at home or are absent from their lives entirely. This is a problem around the world and children face disadvantages caused by a lack of support from their fathers. This problem has a significant effect on society and can be viewed and interpreted from the three sociological perspectives. As a result of many studies, it has been found that children raised in fatherless homes almost universally experience disadvantages such as: worse health, lower academic achievement, and a less pleasant educational experience. There are many variables to take into account when considering the behavior of children in these homes, including why the father is not present. Death, divorce, separation, prison, a never-married mother, all have different results in the success of children. It has also been shown that children living in father-absent homes are more aggressive, have a higher likelihood of criminal behavior, and even have slower cognitive development than children raised by both parents. It is interesting to investigate the effects of different variables and how occasionally deviant behavior affects society. About half of children in America will spend at least part of their childhood in a single-parent household, and most of that time is their family. father who is not present. The prevalent absence of fathers has been called a social disaster, and according to a 1999 Gallup poll, the public agrees. The poll showed that 72% of Americans agree that fatherlessness is this country's most significant social problem.
