The new kind of baseball For the last hundred years in the United States, the best American pastime has been baseball. A typical game day would include a father and son going to a game and catching a foul ball. But what happens if a war breaks out and the dads and players on the team enlist? Who will play? During World War II, the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) was created. A movie called "A League of Their Own" was based on the AAGPBL. The director of the film is somewhat faithful to what happened in the AAGPBL. The director of this film was Penny Marshall (Barnes and Nobel). Tom Hanks plays Jimmy Dugan, Geena Davis plays Dottie Hinson and Lori Petty plays Kit Keller. As the film begins, it begins with two sisters, Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller, who are playing baseball at a local ballpark. Dottie and Kit's baseball team is just one step away from winning the game. Kit approaches the bat but is eliminated. Then Dottie comes in and hits a home run and wins the game. Everyone bothers Kit because his older sister had to win the match for the team. From this point on, you can tell that Kit is always competing to be better than Dottie. Shortly after, a scout arrives at the dairy farm where the two work to see if Dottie will want to come play in the baseball league. She doesn't want to go but Kit... middle of paper... then goes through his softball career and ends up seeing his sister again when they're old. Penny, the director, did a good job incorporating the personal lives of the players into the film. I thought it was very emotional when Coach Dugan gave one of the players a death notice saying that her husband had died in the war. It helped make the film a little more personal and real. I really enjoyed this movie and could watch it any faint of day. “A League of Their Own” is a great movie about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. It's about the life of Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller. There are some real parts in the movie and some fake parts in the movie. I really liked this film because I can somehow identify with the main characters. I hope that after this essay you will want to see a great movie that has great life lessons.
