Topic > Valkyrie – A Film Review - 1531

“A fanatically hysterical romantic with a brutal will”, is how Karl Alexander von Muller described Adolf Hitler's personality. During Hitler's reign, people close to him had the same view towards him as von Muller, and many officers and generals plotted to kill the dictator. The storyline that came closest to success was "Project Valkyrie," which was the subject of the 2010 film "Valkyrie." The film incorporated many historically accurate aspects, despite a number of minor historical flaws. However, there are some instances where poor concepts are also shown in the film. The historical accuracy of the film can be demonstrated by showing the plot, setting and characters. A significant strength of Valkyrie in terms of historical accuracy is the precision of the plot and plot twists. The director, Bryan Singer, tried to accurately portray the story by using the facts of the plot effectively. One of his strengths was the way he described Hitler's "circle of trust" conspirators and why they wanted him out of power. One of the conspirators, Ludwig Beck, made a vague statement about this: "We must once again check whether there was any possibility of understanding between the opposition and the Western powers" (Valkyrie, 247). This is connected to the fact that all the conspirators believed that Germany would face inevitable defeat and would do anything to try to make a deal with the Allied forces to save their beloved country. The real events surrounding the Project were one of the film's most accurate features. For example, the code name "Valkyrie" comes from a document approved by Hitler that would come into force if there were...... half of the document ......erg." History Learning Site.
