In Flannery O'Connor's story “A Good Man is Hard to Find”, the author introduces us to the characteristics of the grandmother at the beginning. Grandma thinks she is superior to everyone else because she is a "lady". He judges others and criticizes his wife Bailey because he believes that the mother does not take the children somewhere abroad. She is dishonest, dissembling and selfish. The Misfit appears at the end of the story is showing that he doesn't care about anything or believing in Christ or religious matters. The grandmother tries to influence him by telling him that the Misfit who can be a good man can be a good person. Grandma was guilty of being selfish. Does the moral of the story represent that the grandmother was approaching the Misfit and finds the meanness of being Christ in the strict sense in the end her life was spared? Two characters collide and it makes things real for them and leads to the death of the grandmother. The grandmother took the family somewhere and this caused their death. The grandmother is a sneaky person because she brought the cat with her even her son told her no. It was his fault for making the children believe there was treasure in the house he wanted to visit. She knew that Baily, her son, would take her where she wanted if she influenced the children first. His cat jumps from the back seat into Baily's lap causing the car to break down. When the grandmother realizes that the house she was thinking of was not in Florida but in Tennessee. She does not comment on the mistake made. After seeing a car coming, he asks them for help. She also notices that the man looks familiar to her, and then yells at Baily that he is... middle of paper... he backs off and starts shooting her multiple times. She was trying to comfort him, but he knew he wouldn't sink to her level and turn into a good man. He doesn't think he's an evil person or a good person. The deadly thing about this story is that two characters can come together to make one realize something that makes the other person see who they are.
