Pregnancy can be wonderful or terrifying. Complications cause miscarriages and deaths every day, and the weight of that knowledge can drown any mom-to-be's joy in anxiety. Fear for the life the baby will lead, or even fear for how it was conceived, can send many people to the abortion clinic or the nearest hospital that provides this procedure. However, many women who choose to end their child's life may not realize the pain they are going through and the alternatives they can take instead of this life-changing decision of throwing away the person growing inside them. Something must be done, and in order for more children to live as they should, abortions must be limited and regulated to prevent unnecessary risks to human life. A woman comes home from the clinic, without the baby she once held inside her, and instead of relief, she feels pain. Not the burning of a wound or the pain of a broken bone, but a deep-rooted depression that eats away until all that remains is an emotional fissure right where happiness once was. Many women who miscarry find themselves more depressed than if they carried the pregnancy to term, which, if left unnoticed, can even lead to suicide. According to an article focusing on the link between abortion and suicide, “…current data suggests that abortion is much more likely to drive an unstable woman to suicide than pregnancy and childbirth” (Reardon) and another article also stated that “Women who have had an abortion in the previous year are six times more likely to commit suicide than women who have given birth” (Meehan).
