SURNAME AND INITIALS: KHUMALO ZCNSTUDENT NUMBER: 2010132559MODULE CODE: ENG214READING ASSIGNMENT: MS F MKWESHSUBMISSION DATE: 04-22-14The book is titled the death of salesmen written in 1949 by Arthur Miller explores the impact that social forces have on the individual on what society shapes individual identity, including the dangers of idealism. This book introduced us to the Lomans family (Willy Loman, Linda Loman, Willy's wife, and two children, Biff and Happy)) who live in America where the cost of living is too high. Willy head of the family who works as a salesman was a victim of the capitalist, he was obsessed with his two sons Biff and Happy from their future success, Biff lived in the present now he no longer went to school where he was a football expert, he is old enough to become very ha more successful on his own, but he is a drifter who has fallen into a life of crime and his brother Happy is a womanizer who is unable to build a stable life for himself. Willy was an old man who thought he could still do his job but he's lucky his sales were decreasing, even his boss noticed it, Willy knew that in life you have to be successful, especially when you live in America, a place of wealthy people. Good business and success like his brother Ben. It was then that Willy began to lean into Biff's past, when he was still at school, playing football and bringing home some prizes he had won at school. That was the past, but Willy kept reminding Biff of what would become his most popular son. Willy no longer wants to accept that he is not successful, he still recognizes his son as a beautiful hero. Biff as the football star when he was in high school and Happy an... middle of paper... in football he always brought home the prizes he had won in school. He can't deal with the fact that his son Biff has grown up and was unsuccessful in life, had just fallen into a life of crime and Happy was a womanizer who just can't seem to build a stable life for himself. some tragedy of letting his family down by not giving them what they wanted at that time he was working as a salesman then he committed suicide by killing himself in a car, so that his family gets insurance coverage so that his wife Linda gets some money for help her and her two sons open big businesses and they would never go hungry again. I think by doing this Willy felt guilty that he didn't achieve what he needed in life while he was working and his money was spent in hotels with that lover that Biff caught him with and he forgot to achieve his American dream.
