Gender is defined as the scope of genetic, physical, mental and behavioral characteristics relating and differentiating between masculinity and femininity, meanwhile inequality is defined as in a situation where it exists an unfair situation or treatment in which some people have more privileges or better opportunities or possibilities than other people. Therefore, from the given definition, gender inequality refers to the unequal or unfair handling, treatment or perception of people or individuals based on their gender. In a parallel sense, gender inequality can be defined as the world where there was discrimination against anyone based on gender. In this introduction, the general understanding of gender inequalities will be further discussed in three significant factors that influence the distribution of domestic work between men and women. Household chores can be classified as cleaning, cooking, and paying bills. The division of housework constitutes an important element for the continuation of the family function and requires the contribution of both spouses (Tang, 2012). However, the perception that current society has of domestic work is based on gender, therefore the three main factors that influence the division of domestic work within couples are the level of education, economic resources and availability of time (do refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1). the main factors that influence the division of housework between men and women. Education plays an important role in society and to ensure the progress of the public, every person's duty is to contribute to its development because education is the best tool to achieve this goal. The basic ingredients of society are men and women, however most societies believe that women... middle of paper... and household tasks together for greater efficiency, both can gain more time for other tasks. In conclusion, there are three factors that influence the division of housework, therefore men and women should divide housework equally even if they have different levels of education and economic resources. Men and women should also manage their time wisely so that they have more time to do household chores. If both men and women could effectively divide household tasks, they would be able to reduce their stress levels and their marriage would have more meaning without any hitches. The Irish poet Thomas Moore once said that “The ordinary acts we perform every day at home are more important to the soul than their simplicity might suggest.” Her reflection on the mundane acts of domestic labor highlights its importance in maintaining a family through everyday means.
