During early society most Roman women could be found raising children, being pregnant, cleaning, cooking, and taking care of their husband's needs. Of course, if a woman was part of a wealthy family she was served hand and foot and lived a life of generosity. As Roman society progressed, women were often seen working outside the home and alongside their husbands. (WRS) The progression of women's freedoms has followed a similar pattern to that of the same issue in the United States. In the early days of the United States, women were also expected to be homemakers, and they slowly gained the freedom to work outside the home and own property. In the later Roman civilization women owned property and even some gained a small role in politics. It's interesting how we talk about Rome in terms of Ancient Rome alone. Rome is still here.
