Ongoing Labor Support Having a baby can be one of the scariest times for a woman. Dealing with it alone could be even worse. Only 12.4% of a nurse's duty time during childbirth is spent providing support to the patient (Measuring Nursing Support During Childbirth). As the amount of ongoing support decreases, the use of things like induction of labor, cesarean section, or pain medicine increases. Continued one-on-one support from a well-trained intrapartum nurse during labor and delivery, as opposed to the support normally provided during labor and delivery, can result in an overall better experience for mother and baby. Nursing was never an official occupation until Crimea. The War of the 1800s. Florence Nightingale, along with a group of volunteers, was sent to help clean a British hospital in Türkiye. The group also helped care for patients. After her visit, Nightingale pushed for hospitals to adopt more rigorous sanitation methods. He found better ways to graph statistical data. He also helped form the Royal Commission into Army Health. Although she could not be appointed to the Royal Commission, Nightingale wrote the Commission's report. Thanks to all of her contributions to the medical field, Nightingale is considered by many to be the founder of nursing. (History of Nurses) An intrapartum nurse, also known as a labor and delivery nurse, helps bring people into the world every day. (A practical approach to employment support) They care for women before, during and after childbirth, prepare families for life with a new baby and assist the doctor. Some things a nurse does during childbirth include monitoring the heart rate and blood pressure of the baby and mother, time when the mother ... middle of paper ... might give the partner encouragement, praise, reassurance and breastfeeding presence. The nurse should tell the partner that he or she is doing a good job of supporting the mother. If the partner is stressed, this could affect the mother's happiness during labor and birth. (A Practical Approach to Labor Support) Although there has been an increase in labor inductions, cesarean deliveries, analgesia use, and medical complications during birth, the number of intrapartum nurses relative to patients has decreased. Although it has been shown that an intrapartum nurse providing individual and continuous support to a woman in labor, compared to the normal support offered today, can give greater satisfaction with the overall experience of labor, there has been no rush to employ more intrapartum nurses. nurses trained in continuous individual support.
