In Cheryl Strayed's Wild, she gives readers a vivid exposition of her turbulent and harsh past. He recounts his journey from the beginning of what was the turning point in his life: the death of his mother. Strayed goes through a roller coaster of unfortunate events both within his control and out of his control. He makes several bad choices and shares all his triumphs with pure honesty. Strayed talks about his past with distant remorse, as if he were watching his past in a movie. He doesn't seem ashamed of his past, but why should he? Like all human beings, Cheryl Strayed makes mistakes and also suffers the consequences. Everyone handles situations differently, and the best thing anyone can do is learn from mistakes and apply it to their future, like she does. Strayed has come to terms with his past and by writing this biography he shows the courage he has gained from the unfortunate events in his life. As the saying goes, “whatever will be, will be.” He took everything, the negative and the positive in his life, and made the crazy decision to leave his life behind to find peace, move forward and survive. There is no shame in the act of trying. It was a very noble decision that Strayed made when he decided to share his dirty laundry. Having to confess all his true feelings, knowing the possibilities of judgment from others, would make that person very vulnerable and essentially naked. It is a very courageous decision when someone decides to expose themselves because they know they will receive criticism and judgement. Another brave woman, like Cheryl, shared her story. Beth Whaanga, with no intentions of anger, raised a lot of controversy on a social media site when she decided to post post-surgery photos of her new body after s...... middle of paper...... During her journey, she always tried, sometimes successfully and sometimes not, but she tried to move forward. She also learned to forgive, towards others and towards herself. His story is incredibly insightful to the realities of the world. His problems were not at all out of the ordinary; death, infidelity, drugs, scandal: at least one of these is in everyone's life. He admits, "I've done a lot of stupid and dangerous things in my life..." (Strayed 94). The way he handled certain situations wasn't the best, but that's what made his life a learning process, and more importantly, that's the story that has inspired so many lives today.
