Team members at each stage of development will constantly interact, thus creating a strong relationship with each other. The personalities and environment in which the team operates will influence the growth of the relationship and the time it takes to move through each stage of the team's development. Task orientation is another approach that can be adopted in stages and focuses on completing the task efficiently rather than worrying about developing team members' interpersonal relationships. (Tuckman, 1965) From the two factors it is predicted that a task-oriented approach is more effective for a team in achieving high performance than an interpersonal relationship-based approach in some situations, however a relationship-oriented approach will work in other scenarios as well. (Breckler et al., 2006) In conclusion, Tuckman's team development model stage and major factors are part of team dynamics because it is how a team will function that influences each individual's behavior and performance. The way team members act will always change from time to time, but having a balance between task orientation and interpersonal relationship approach can be effective in the long run as teams will find it easier to climb the ladder on different levels.
