Tech Effect"The Internet is one of a series of aids developed over the last millennium or so that have increased the operational capabilities of the average citizen of the world", (Stefanie Olsen, Sec. 2). With all the new technologies so close at hand, people are starting to question the effects on society and people's true capabilities. The amount of technology in this new world has increased rapidly and is impacting our society from the way they think, the way they work, and the way they interact socially. Over time, new inventions come and go; however, the invention of technology is here to stay. Initially, the use of cell phones increased over time. “It is estimated that there are now eight times more cell phones than landlines, three times more cell phones than personal computers, and nearly twice as many cell phones as televisions,” (Niki Denison, para. 3). People are upgrading their technology from old phones to new mobile ones. These new phones now have some of the same qualities as personal computers, such as the Internet; so, who needs a big computer to access everything if a phone can do it? Phones can also show videos, episodes, and other information shown on your TV. Additionally, some technologies can mimic other technologies. “About one in six adults (15%) use the Internet, sometimes referred to as Voice-Over-Internet Protocol VoIP, to make phone calls (“Cell Phone Usage Continues in the USA,” Para 3). explains that people use and they rely on technology to exchange gadgets. Finally, technology is available to all ages." Surveys have revealed that cell phone ownership by teenagers has exploded, from less than half of US teenagers in 2004 to 71 percent in 2008" ("Cell Phone Use... middle of paper... and need not fear that Internet and cell phone use will send them 'into a spiral of isolation," ("New Study Shows That Internet and Cell Phones increase your social network,” Paragraph 15). Most people's lives work well with technology, so why not jump on the bandwagon? To conclude, people say that society relies heavily on technology, but it can it wouldn't be a bad thing if it brought this world closer together. The way our society thinks, functions, and interacts socially truly stems from our ability to use so much technology. Today's society is fortunate to have technology at our fingertips; however, what is technology doing to us and can we stop it or improve it? “The Internet is one of a series of aids developed over the last millennium that have increased the operational capabilities of the average citizen of the world”, (Stefanie Olsen, Section.. 2).
