Introduction (SV)Richard and Maurice McDonald opened the McDonald's company in 1940, but the organization was not founded until 1955 when Ray Kroc joined the company as a franchising agent. And now it is one of the world's leading fast food restaurant companies. The organization currently has more than 400,000 employees and is headquartered in Oakbrook, Illinois. Their mission statement on their website states: “The mission of the McDonald's brand is to be our customers' favorite place and way to eat and drink. Our global operations are aligned around a global strategy called Plan to Win, focused on exceptional customer experience: people, products, place, price and promotion. We are committed to continuously improving our operations and enhancing our customers' experience” (McDonald's Corporate Mission and Values). Their goals coincide with their mission to consistently provide customers with good tasting food at an affordable cost, to be socially responsible to the communities they serve and, of course, to keep their shareholders satisfied with high returns. McDonald's is currently at a stage in its life cycle where the question is: can they continue to grow? Recent news announced that McDonald's is considering extending breakfast hours to meet the needs of its customers as eating habits change. This can however have a positive impact on their sales; the challenge lies in the functioning of the kitchen. McDonald's is looking for better ways to boost profits amid slowing sales and the rise of health-conscious Americans.
