During this course I learned a lot about how to sharpen my negotiation skills and I think this is an essential skill to have when working for any company or even if you are an entrepreneur. Knowing how to negotiate a favorable deal or deal for your business can often mean the difference between success and failure. People negotiate more than they are really aware of in everyday life, both in work and in home life. Many managers negotiate between employees, suppliers, customers and even investors. It is a very industrious skill that can help you build your life and business in a constructive way. A key element to successful negotiation is having confidence in what you want to achieve and also what you are willing to settle for. Another fundamental key is to know what other people's needs and objectives are, in other words to know what their strengths are and to develop a strategy and in what order to propose the suggested agreement and be equipped to counteroffer.4. When the request opens for the most sensible offer, there is still room for negotiation.5. Make sure you can see the details6. If your opponent were to make the first proposal, this can occasionally work to your advantage if his proposal is better than you had anticipated.7. Try starting with topics you could stop on8. Recognize when to offer a compromise, in other words give this for that.9. Make sure you move up or down incrementally to get around the lowest level of acceptance10. Identify where it is time to close the deal. Keep in mind that negotiations are not really about who wins, but more about producing an outcome that both parties are happy with.
